During the inaugural Traveling Dad conference that was held at Disney World in February, I met Raphael Ocampo a fellow Traveling Dad writer and fellow Texan. I learned Raphael has traveled literally all over the world and was originally from Texas. Being from Texas when you seen another Texan there’s an instant connection!
On our final day at the Traveling Dad Conference we were able to field test a few brand new Chevys. Raphael and I partnered up and hit the streets of Florida.
As all the Dads were trying to decide which vehicle they were going to drive, everyone left the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro RS all by its lonesome.
So naturally Raphael and I jumped in!
Before we took off, we buckled our seat belts and opened the sun roof because it was a perfect sunny day in Florida.
Take a look at our short video about the 2016 Camaro.
The Camaro we drove was the 3.6L V6, 335 hp, 0 – 60 in 5.1 seconds! Raphael drove it most of the time we had the car and I jumped on the in-car 4G LTE Wi-fi to upload the video we recorded. The car also came equipped with Apple Car Play. I plugged in my car and asked Siri to find the route to our destination. If I wasn’t in the car Raphael wouldn’t have had a problem with using Apple Car Play because it can be activated using the voice recognition feature.
Spoiler Alert: We did not speed or take it too fast. It was a loaner so we took it easy.
I loved the car and I actually used to own a 2003 Chevy Camaro, which was WAY before we had kids and it was just me and my wife, girlfriend at the time, driving around in our little Camaro. While this Dad would love to own a Chevy like this, I don’t think we can fit three car seats in the back of the 2016 Camaro. Maybe this can be my own car that I use to drive to work or without the wife and kids. I just have to really sell it to my wife that I need this car!
