Getting ready for a family vacation can be a lot of work. You need to pick the perfect place to stay, plan the ideal itinerary, find the best places to eat, and figure out what to pack for the adventure.
Being as you worked so hard to plan this trip, you deserve some fabulous family photos. So I’m going to take one thing off your checklist:
For your next family vacation, pack the Panasonic Lumix ZS60. Here’s why.
For family vacations, the size of your camera can obviously factor into whether you pack it or not. I own a DSLR camera with a very nice lens that I use for my travel writing jobs, but who wants to haul that around on a family vacation?
When traveling as a family you want a camera that’s easy to stash when you need a free hand or just want to live in the moment. The Panasonic Lumix ZS60 is very close to the size of my smartphone, just thicker, so it easily fits in small bags or even in a roomy pocket. And naturally the features of the ZS60 are superior to those of your smartphone.
To kick the smartphone out of the water, let’s look at the zoom capabilities. The ZS60 packs a 30x (24-720mm) optical zoom LEICA DC Lens. The proof is in the pictures you see here. My daughter was picking berries in our backyard and I stayed in one spot to capture these three photos.
In the Kali River Rapids shot below, the zoom also helped me capture the smiling faces of my husband and daughter (center) and that was after they were drenched!
You might have heard the term 4k lately in regard to televisions or even smartphones, but let my tell you why the ZS60’s 4k video is such a big deal.
4k is the term used to reference an Ultra High Definition (UHD) display of 4000 pixel resolution. This goes far beyond the 1080p measurement that seemed to be the top of the line only a couple of years ago. The videos you shoot with the ZS60 will be 4k resolution, making them look sharp when viewed on present-day 4k TVs and in the coming years as screen resolutions continue to expand.
Quick Manual Adjustments
The ZS60 is an excellent camera for beginners, but if you have a bit of photography knowledge the camera has two features that will pack appeal. You can program the lens ring and the back dial to be manual adjusters for you. Want a quick action for adjusting exposure? Set the ring dial for exposure control. Now you can brighten or darken your shot depending on the lighting needed.
The back dial can also be programmed and I chose to set it for white balance control, allowing me to easily adjust the color of the photo based on the lighting I was in. Each of these two dials has 3-4 options to choose from for programming, so you can pick your favorite manual actions and set up your own shortcuts.
WiFi for Sharing
Another compelling reason for packing ZS60: WiFi sharing capabilities.
As we live in such a social world, we often want to share our vacation moments with friends and family as soon as possible. Sharing on social is simple with the ZS60: Just download the Panasonic app to your smartphone and you can transfer the photos from the camera to your phone, wirelessly and almost instantly.
So as you plan that vacation, consider the Panasonic Lumix ZS60. Its size, zoom, 4k video, manual shortcuts, and WiFi capabilities make it an excellent choice for capturing your family vacation memories.
