Normally when we travel, we can usually find at least one family member that lives in that area to stay with. Traveling outside the State of Texas is a different story. Therefore when we traveling out of state, we chose our hotels according to ratings, proximity to attractions, and accommodations. Accommodations is extremely high on our list because we have a 1 year old that still sleeps in a crib and getting them to sleep on hotel bed can be rather challenging.
Hotel Review Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
When I traveled to Orlando, Florida in September I booked a room at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. There a few reasons I chose Wyndham Lake Buena Vista as my place to stay.
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Overview
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is located minutes away from Disney Springs or what some people still call “Downtown Disney.” There are two options hotel guest can choose from, Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista and Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. WLBV has 232 lakehouse-themed guest rooms that feature amazing views of the surrounding theme parks and Disney Springs. WGLBV has 394 guest rooms, located in a five-story courtyard style building, provide affordable accommodations on a resort-style campus.
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Tower Rooms
I stayed in a Lake View 2 Queen Room, which is located in the tower of Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. My room had a great view of the Lake Buena Vista and the pool.
What Works For Families
The rooms can fit four, maybe even five if you have a little one that can sleep in a pack and play, which are available for guests. If I were to bring my entire family, my family of five can fit in the two queen room because my one year old still sleeps in a crib. Using a pack-n-play is the perfect solution for us.
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is an Official Disney Resort. It offers transpiration to all Disney Parks. Also, if you buy something inside the parks it can be delivered to your room. Also, since the hotel is an official Disney Resort, guests can dine with Disney Characters at the Lakeview Restaurant. I had the opportunity to eat the breakfast buffet with my friend Goofy!
Staying at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
If you do choose to stay at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista here a few tips to make your stay fun and relaxing.
- Book a ride from the airport to Wyndham LBV early.
In my case since I was traveling alone I took a cab and it ended up costing $57 dollars. There aren’t too many options to get from the Orlando Airport to Wyndham LBV. You have a choice of a cab, Uber Black (which costs $75 dollars), or Mears shuttle transfer. The cheapest option is the Mears shuttle. The only downside is that depending on what hotel you are traveling to, it may stop on the way to drop other passengers off. If you are traveling with a large group it may be more economical to book a private shuttle. If you rent a car; be aware that there is a $12 dollar fee to valet your car and a $12 dollar fee to park it yourself.
- Don’t take a cab or ask for a ride to Disney Springs; walk.
The hotel is literally a 10 minute walk across the pedestrian bridge to Disney Springs.
- If you want to eat at Disney Springs make a reservation at the restaurant you choose.
There are a few quick service restaurants like Earl of Sandwich and The Express at Wolf Gang Puck. When we ate at Earl of Sandwich at lunch time the line wrapped around inside and was out the door. It was fast and the sandwich was rather delicious just be prepared for a wait.
- Bring a swim suit!
What was most noteworthy was the pool which was originally an old windmill. A bar is located next to the pool. Parents can get a drink and the kiddos can get a snack. Don’t worry about bringing a towel, right next to the bar area there is a towel dispenser.
- If you are looking for a late night snack visit the 24 hour Sundial cafe.
Open 24 hours a day a snack can be purchased at any time.
Also, here is a quick Dad tip. If you arrive before official check in time or really early in the morning your room more than likely won’t be ready. Check your bags with the bellhops and head to the parks.
If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World consider Wyndham Lake Buena Vista because it is budget friendly and an official Disney resort.
