Whenever I think about traveling and experiencing new things I always think about traveling long distances and finding new things. The only thing is there is so much to do close to home.
Living in Austin, Texas there are so many suburbs that have fun things to do. Last Saturday we had a day outing and visited some cool places in the Central Texas Area.
4 Places to Have Fun in Central Texas
IKEA – If you loathe going to IKEA, just think about this way. Its a free place for kids to walk and walk and walk and walk and get them tired! Plus there is .50 cent hotdogs and ice cream! Plus every so often kids eat free in the diner area.
Kaleidoscope Toys – Located in Round Rock, Kaleidoscope Toys is dubbed the fidget spinner headquarters of Central Texas. The kids are super into fidget spinners and had a blast checking out this family owned toy story. It is also stocked with tons of education toys and tons of fun stuff for the whole family.
Idle Vine Brewery – With the emergence of the craft brewery scene exploding in Austin, there is a ton to visit and most are kid friendly. We swung by Idle Vine Brewery for the first time ever. I enjoyed a nice dark porter and they had honey root beer for the kids. My oldest boy loved the root beer. Also, we also go tot speak with the assistant head brewer and got a mini tour of the brewery. Most Austin brewery are super accommodating and love to give you a tour. When fellow Traveling Dad Raphael Ocampo came to Austin we got to check out Austin Beer Works. Check out our post about it, 2 Dads Visit a Brewery.
CupPrimo – Who doesn’t love cupcakes? I mean come on! There are so many choices and cupcakes always hit the spot! The owner of CupPrimo, an Austin native, and a contestant on Cupcake Wars knows how to throw down on some of the most delicious cupcakes I have ever tasted.
