Everyone remembers their first time.
Do you remember your first time?
I sure do.
I was 15. Oh, it was glorious. Round, beautiful, and glowing in the sun. It was my first time riding any ride at Disney World and I was getting ready to go inside the giant golf ball known as Spaceship Earth. Wait, what did you think I was talking about?
The first time we ride a ride at Disney World sticks with you for life. It’s a seminal experience that one never forgets. Especially, when that ride takes place in Disney World’s iconic theme park, Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom was the first theme park Walt built in Florida. It mimics Disneyland and then improves on it with more area to grow and expand.
Main Street, U.S.A, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland. Even the area names sound inviting and exciting.
As I mentioned, I was 15 when I rode my first Disney ride. What about all those little ones running around the Magic Kingdom? The toddlers, tykes, and tweens. They’re not tall enough for the “big” rides and not old enough for the possibly “scary” rides. So, what are the best first time rides for kids at the Magic Kingdom? Let’s explore and find out!
1. Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight always has a long line at the Magic Kingdom. There’s a reason for that. It’s an awesome ride! The colors and feeling of flight on this ride will create the memory of a lifetime for your little one.
Now, there’s an interactive queue line that will take you through the story of Peter Pan, too! It’s an incredible journey through the kids rooms, flying over London, and then, it’s off to Neverland!
2. Jungle Cruise
Jungle Cruise provides a fun, boating experience for young kids and corny jokes for the adults in the group. It’s a classic Disney ride that never disappoints. You’ll travel through Africa, Asia, and the Amazon in one quick boat ride. Who can forget their first boat ride? Especially, if it’s on the Jungle Cruise!
3. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
One of the best parts of the Winnie the Pooh ride is the interactive queue line. It will keep kids entertained for hours. Fortunately, you probably won’t have to wait long for this ride.
Once inside the ride, the colors are magnificent! Your kids will go on an adventure with Winnie the Pooh and meet characters from the 100 Acre Wood.
Don’t forget to watch for Mr. Toad. Since this used to be his ride location, there are a couple “appearances” from the Toad, himself.
Mad Tea Party
The Mad Tea Party is a classic Disney ride that kids love and adults….well, adults may want to steer clear of this one if you just had lunch.
Also known as the “teacups,” this ride will take your kids on a wild, spinning ride through the world of Alice in Wonderland. Located between our last ride (Winnie the Pooh) and our next ride on the list (Tomorrowland Speedway), the Mad Tea Party rarely has a long line, so don’t waste a FastPass on this one.
What about your child’s first time driving a car? That would be the ultimate first time ride for some kids! Magic Kingdom gives you that chance with the Tomorrowland Speedway.
Although you must be over 48″ to drive a Speedway car by yourself, kids under 48″ can drive with an adult over 52″. What an amazing experience for a first timer to Disney!
