Tim has worked in the travel industry for 17 years and is currently planning his next adventure! You can follow Tim and all of his travel adventures on Jones Family Travels.

Star Wars Galactic Spectacular

Star. Wars. Galactic. Spectacular. I think I’ve said all I need to say about this Disney experience. Star Wars Galactic Spectacular In all seriousness, the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of the best fireworks displays at Disney World. That’s saying something. The show includes scenes from your favorite Star Wars movies projected onto Grauman’s Chinese Theater accompanied by the score from Star Wars. Some of these scenes even become somewhat interactive with lasers shooting out into the audience as a tie fighter squares off with an X-wing fighter. Of course, you’ll hear some of...

Best FREE Snorkeling Experience? Castaway Cay!

Is Castaway Cay the best snorkeling experience available? While enjoying our 19th Disney Cruise in February of this year, we decided to try out the new(ish) snorkeling trail on Disney’s own private paradise island, Castway Cay. We’ve tried snorkeling at Castaway Cay on previous Disney Cruises in the old area and it was OK. This newer area, though was a lot of fun! The best part? You can experience this snorkeling “trail” for FREE! Best Snorkeling Experience The Castaway Cay snorkeling experience begins at Gil’s Fins and Boats or Flippers and Floats, depending on which end of the family...

From adult areas to kids areas to the pool, new Broadway level Frozen show, and an entirely new dining experience; from stem to stern the Disney Wonder experienced a transformation. Disney Wonder Adult Areas The adult area was completely reimagined and renamed on the Wonder. Now known...

Top 5 Winter Activities in Duluth Minnesota

What do you do in Duluth, Minnesota in the winter? It’s cold, covered in snow. Did I mention that it’s cold? We’re Floridians! Well, maybe we could… Our daughter, Hunter, wanted to see snow for her December birthday and to have a white Christmas. Dad grew up in Northern Minnesota and still had family up there, so he knew how he could provide both for his...

Voluntourism in the Dominican Republic

How can we teach our kids about giving back? Or, how to help those in need? One way we did so, recently, was through an impact cruise and voluntourism. What is Voluntourism? Voluntourism can mean a lot of different things, practically. The definition is “a form of tourism in which travelers participate in voluntary work, typically for a charity.” How that voluntary work is executed is what takes different forms. For us, we went on a Fathom cruise to the Dominican Republic where we participated in several “impact” activities (the volunteer part of voluntourism). Our ship, the Adonia, was...

The Truth About the Universal Orlando Express Pass: Is It Worth the Cost?

Is a Universal Express Pass worth the money? We recently had the opportunity to find out. Since we had the Universal Express passes for a full day, we took this opportunity as a challenge to see if we could get both Universal parks done in one day, using the Express passes. While making the video, above, we learned that the Universal Express pass is quite controversial. Apparently, many feel it’s too expensive, Universal shouldn’t even have an “express line,” and that it ruins the experience of the parks. Let’s address some of these issues. Disclosure: Universal Orlando Resort provided...

Spend the Night on the Chattanooga Choo Choo!

Did you know you can spend the night aboard the Chattanooga Choo Choo? Sleeping in a refurbished car from this iconic train was one of the coolest lodging experiences I’ve ever had! As you pull up to the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel, you quickly realize, you’re at an actual train station! This is the old station for the Chattanooga Choo Choo! We all were pumped to stay and experience this unique hotel. I think I was the most excited, as my Mom’s family was a railroad family, so I grew up around trains and railmen. You can see my reaction...
